Description

The International scientific event entitled “Clinical Training of Medical Physicists in Morocco: Between New Technologies and Academic Challenges” aims to develop a clinical training program tailored to the needs of Moroccan medical physicists. Its objective is to harmonize their training with the cutting-edge technologies already available in Morocco, while adhering to international standards. The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between the current training model—considered overly theoretical—and the requirements of leading scientific societies such as the IAEA, ESTRO, and AAPM.

Context and Problem Statement :

Morocco possesses advanced technological infrastructure in the field of medical physics. However, the clinical training of medical physicists has not evolved at the same pace. The current traditional approach remains heavily focused on theoretical learning, while essential clinical competencies needed to operate modern technologies are insufficiently developed. This mismatch has created a significant gap when compared to the recommendations of international organizations, which emphasize the necessity of supervised, hands-on clinical training within healthcare institutions.

Objectives of the Event :

  • Review international practices in clinical training for medical physicists, drawing on the expertise of leading professional and scientific societies.
  • Develop a national clinical training program for medical physicists in Morocco that is fully aligned with international standards.
  • Update and modernize the training framework to ensure it meets the challenges posed by current technological advancements.
