 itions in the field of physical sciences in world rankings published by in
 ternational organizations aimed at quantifying the quality of scientific r
 esearch and university education worldwide. In particular\, since 2017\, o
 ur university has been at the forefront in this field at the national\, Ar
 ab\, and African levels\, in the renowned Jiao Tong University of Shanghai
  ranking (The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU)). In a world o
 riented towards the knowledge economy\, this ranking has become one of the
  most important tools globally for positioning and comparing oneself again
 st universal standards of excellence in higher education and scientific re
 search. It allows academic and political responses through decisions and s
 trategies aimed at improving this position both at the university level an
 d at the national level.Thus\, this meeting\, organized by the Laboratory 
 of Matter Physics and Radiation\, is intended as an opportunity to discuss
  advances in the field of physical sciences and its role in societal devel
 opment. It is also an occasion for all university stakeholders\, relevant 
 authorities\, and socio-economic partners to take stock of achievements an
 d discuss potential actions to strengthen and sustain this position. This 
 meeting will also provide an opportunity to exchange and confront differen
 t experiences in this field and to establish new university collaborations
